Scholarship Description: This scholarship is funded by an ARC Linkage-projects grant and will provide support for 3 years on a full-time basis for a research project leading to a PhD.Many macroscopic aspects of pressurized Metered Dose Inhaler (pMDI) for respiratory disease are recognized, but are yet to be understood at the basic level and accordingly exploited. In particular, the droplet charge mechanism in non-aqueous pMDIs remained elusive. Currently, although a wide range of drugs are commercially available as pMDIs, the efficiency of these systems is poor, with most devices delivering less than 20 per cent to the lung. An insight into these systems is crucial to successfully enhance the performance of aerosol formulations in industry, ultimately translating into superior patient therapy. This project will create a theoretical model for pMDI formulation that can be applied to the development of a new generation of inhalation medicines.

Applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A degree in physics, engineering, chemistry or pharmaceutical science. Experience/background in electrostatics and/or building of scientific apparatuses and material properties would be an advantage. Applicant must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens.

Scholarship Amount Details

This amount will be transferred to recipients? bank account along with their first scholarship after they have joined the University.
Monthly stipend: Scholarship recipients will receive one of the following monthly stipends based on their results in the entrance examination etc.

Class 2: 60,000 yen per month

Fellowship Stipend: The stipend of the Research Fellowship would be Rs.18,702/-+ DA, Rs.19,323/-+DA and Rs.19,323/-+DA as revised from time to time by central government for first, second and third year respectively.

The Fellowship will be awarded initially for two years and it may be extended by another year on the basis of performance to complete the work. The total duration of the research Fellowship will not be extended beyond three years. The Fellowship may be terminated at any time if the work and the conduct of candidate is not found satisfactory. Under special circumstances considering the importance of the work, a high power committee consisting of Director, Dean, Guide and two experts of the concerned field (To be nominated by the Director) may further extend the tenure of the Fellowship as deemed essential by the committee. But the candidate will not be provided Fellowship stipend beyond three years.

Eligibility: Fellowships are open to persons preferably below the age of 35 years (For SC/ST and women candidates upto 40 years, three years relaxation for OBC against reserved category), who have obtained a Post Graduate Degree of Siddha, M.D (Siddha) or equivalent in the subject concerned from a university recognized under Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970.
a) The Research Fellowship will be tenable by the rules as approved by the National Institute of Siddha, Chennai.
b) The Fellow will perform whole-time research work under the approved guide on the selected topic.
c) The Fellow will not accept or hold any appointment paid or otherwise or receive any emoluments, salary, stipend, etc. from any other source, during the tenure of the award. The Fellows are also required to undertake teaching assignments as provided by the Institute, e.g., tutorials, practical demonstration, laboratory work, etc. which would help them in future as a teacher and researcher.
d) The Fellow shall present his work, through his Guide, half yearly report on the progress of his work to the Director, which will be reviewed in consultation with Research Committee. Before the expiry of the Fellowship, the Fellow will make a comprehensive presentation as a pre-submission before the Research Committe and Director and Department teachers. After the approval of pre-submission, the thesis will be submitted to the Director, duly signed by Guide, Co-guide and abstract in about 2000 words and CD of the research work done during the tenure of the Fellowship.
e) If a Fellow wishes to leave the Fellowship before the end of the tenure, it should be done with the prior approval of the Director on the recommendation of the Guide. In such case, the candidate has to refund all the stipend, he/she has received till date.
f) He/She should also obtain prior permission of the Director on the recommendation of the Guide for appearing at any examination / Interview conducted by any University or other Institution.
g) Research Fellowship will be tenable initially for a period of two years. Anytime within two years of the tenure, the performance of the Research Fellows will be assessed by the Guide and Director. On assessment, if it is found that the Fellow lacks research potential, the Fellowship may be terminated at any time within 2 years.
h) A Fellow who has completed his essential research work and 2 years period, is eligible to make pre-submission presentation. After the successful presentation, he/she is entitled to leave NIS and complete the data compilation and typing work within one year.

Dissertation projects can interdisciplinary combine the potentials of stochastics, statistics, numerics and computer science for providing new solutions to exciting challenges in the coinciding areas of biometrics, pattern recognition and image processing. Essential qualifications are a master degree, diploma or a comparable degree in mathematics, computer science or a related scientific field.

– Programming skills (e.g. Java, C++, Matlab, R)
– Experience in mathematical or statistical imaging

Background in geometry, pattern recognition or image processing is advantageous. As a student, you undergo research oriented training and experience a stimulating and scientifically challenging atmosphere. Advised by internationally renowned scientists, you can participate in one of the many research groups and find your way into top notch research.
Talented students with strong interest in research who hold a Masters or an excellent Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or in a related field can apply.
Financial support during both phases (of course assuming adequate progress) will be provided. During the preparatory phase starting after your BSc degree, this support comes in the form of scholarships (800 € per month) or teaching and research support contracts. During the research and dissertation phase, you are supported in the form of stipends (about 1400 € per month) or of research or teaching assistantships.
There are currently no tuition fees, only a student fee of 140 € per semester which gives you free access to public transportation and reduced student rates at the university cafeteria and for many other public services (museums, concerts).

The Australia-Korea Foundation (AKF) was established by the Australian Government in 1992 to develop contacts and exchanges between the peoples of Australia and Korea. The Foundation promotes people-to-people and institutional links covering the spectrum of Australia’s relations with Korea. This includes education, science and technology, commerce and industry, arts, the media and sport. It administers and funds projects and programs which will assist in achieving its purposes and aim.

The Australia-Korea Foundation (AKF) 2011–12 financial year funding round will open Monday 24 January 2011. The AKF Board seeks applications for grant funding from $2,000 up to a maximum of $20,000 for projects commencing between 01 August 2011 and 30 June 2012. Activities must be completed by 30 September 2012.

Project proposals from individuals or organisations must demonstrate the ability to achieve AKF’s goals in line with the AKF Strategic Plan 2009–12 including:

Increase public awareness of Australia in Korea, and of Korea in Australia, and the importance of the bilateral relationship
Develop partnerships in areas of shared interest in the bilateral, regional and global context

Scholarship Description:The International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP) is a program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State (ECA/A/S/X) and is implemented by IREX (the international Research & Exchange Board), a Washington, DC based non-profit organization. ECA/A/S/X will provide the funding and overall policy guidance for this program.
ECA/A/S/X is planning to bring approximately 64 international teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), social studies, math or science to the United States for a semester-long (5 month) professional development program beginning in January of 2012. The teachers will be recruited from Near East, South Asia and Southeast Asia and will be placed in cohorts of about 16 teachers at four U.S. universities that will be selected through a competitive process.

The program will consist of academic seminars focusing on new teaching methodologies, curriculum development, lesson planning, and teaching strategies. All candidates will receive laptop computers and computer training. Participants will audit two courses in the host university’s School or Department of Education, and thus will be part of the general university community. If necessary, candidates will also receive ongoing English language assistance during their academic program. The program will also include a minimum 90 hour internship in a U.S. secondary school to actively engage participants in the U.S. classroom environment. Cultural enrichment, mentoring, and support will be provided to participants throughout the program. MACEE will nominate 10 teachers for this program.

Each year, eight or nine scholarships are awarded to incoming MPH, MHS, and MS students in the Bloomberg School of Public Health. The scholarships are awarded through a competitive process and are open to all domestic and international students.
There is not a separate application for the Global Health Scholarship. Instead, all admitted students into the Bloomberg School of Public Health are considered for the award.
